Mark Glover

On March 31st, Mark began experiencing severe abdominal pain, so much so that he couldn't participate in the church's passion play as planned. On April 1st, we went to the ER, thinking it might be gallbladder issues. After a CT scan, the doctor delivered devastating news: Mark had cancer, and it had already spread.

We were immediately directed to the cancer center. Following a PET scan and liver biopsy, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma, and chemotherapy began shortly after.

After the fourth round of chemo, Mark became so weak that he could barely get out of bed, and with his daughter's wedding approaching, the oncologist advised stopping treatments until after the wedding. Six weeks later, a PET scan revealed that the cancer had worsened significantly. Our choices were either to resume the same chemo or begin hospice care. We sought a second opinion at Vanderbilt and started a different chemotherapy regimen. After six treatments, the cancer is now stable.

We now travel to Nashville every other Friday for appointments and chemo, which Mark will need to continue for the rest of his life.
